Daisy is a 3 ½  year old Westie (Born Feb 2023) who has been returned to rescue through no fault of her own.  She is a real live wire and loves to have a good run around and play.  She has lived with children before so would be suitable for any 7yrs +.  In the past she has lived with other dogs and although settled well she does prefer to be an only dog where she gets all the love and attention.  She does pull a little on the lead when shes excited and wanting to get somewhere in a hurry but this would be easily fixed.  She would really suit an active family able to take her out and about on adventures as she is certainly not a couch potato.  Shes recently visited the groomer for a bath and a haircut and behaved well and any new owner would need to make this a regular routine.  Her vaccinations including kennel cough were brought up to date in July and she was neutered when in the care of RDR originally.  If you think you could offer the prefect home for a special little lady please email: chair@ryedaledogrescue.org.uk with your contact details and brief details of the home you could offer.

Alfie is a 9 year old Greyhound X who we are helping to find a new home under very sad circumstances.  He is vaccinated up to date and good with other dogs of all sizes but does not like cats!!  He is currently being fostered by a friend of his original owner and has been living happily alongside their resident small dogs and has behaved really well around visiting children.  He loves going for his walks but is a real couch potato when at home and loves a good snooze.  He is house trained and can be left alone for a reasonable amount of time.  Initial enquiries should be made by email to chair@ryedaledogrescue.org.uk or by phone on 07843 841778.  Any rehoming would be subject to a homecheck by RDR.

It’s nearly time for our our fun dog show, which will be held at Malton Cricket Club on Sunday 28th June. Come and join us for some fun and games. The show starts at 11am and gates open at 10:30am.

Rodney & Sidney are a pair of very bonded brothers who are looking for a home together.  They were originally bought as Cocker Spaniel x Labradors, DNA tests indicate that they are 51% labrador, 15% cocker spaniel and 34% poodle!

They were born in October 2024 and are now fully vaccinated and castrated.  Although they look very similar their characters are quite different.  Rodney is very outgoing and definitely a bolder character, while Sidney is a bit more reserved and more of a ‘thinker’.  Their basic training is coming along, and they are learning to walk well on their harnesses.  They do get excited in new situations and with new dogs, but that’s just inexperience and they are learning all the time. 

Their ideal home would be an active one with people prepared to continue their training and socialisation.  They could live with older ‘dog savvy’ children, and would love a home with lots of outside space where they could run around and play.

The past twelve months have been extremely busy for RDR, and we have received a large number of calls and emails enquiring about rehoming dogs, or about dogs that need a new home. All the staff at RDR are volunteers, and many have full-time jobs too, but we try to answer your queries as quickly as possible. To help us manage the volume of enquiries, we are making some changes to our adoption process and how we handle enquiries.

Adoption Information

If you are enquiring about rehoming a dog please give us as much information about yourself as possible. This will speed up the adotion process, and help our volunteers to give you the most appropriate advice and guidance. Please include the following:

• Your name
• Address
• Contact Details, including phone number
• The name of the dog you are inteersting in adopting
• If you’re not asking about a specific dog, the type of dog you are interested in
• What experience you have of owning or living with a dog
• Some information about your home circumstances, for example:
  • whether you have children or young people living in the home
  • whether you have a secure garden
  • whether the dog would be left alone during the day, and if so, for how long.
