Daisy is a 3 ½  year old Westie (Born Feb 2023) who has been returned to rescue through no fault of her own.  She is a real live wire and loves to have a good run around and play.  She has lived with children before so would be suitable for any 7yrs +.  In the past she has lived with other dogs and although settled well she does prefer to be an only dog where she gets all the love and attention.  She does pull a little on the lead when shes excited and wanting to get somewhere in a hurry but this would be easily fixed.  She would really suit an active family able to take her out and about on adventures as she is certainly not a couch potato.  Shes recently visited the groomer for a bath and a haircut and behaved well and any new owner would need to make this a regular routine.  Her vaccinations including kennel cough were brought up to date in July and she was neutered when in the care of RDR originally.  If you think you could offer the prefect home for a special little lady please email: chair@ryedaledogrescue.org.uk with your contact details and brief details of the home you could offer.

Alfie is a 9 year old Greyhound X who we are helping to find a new home under very sad circumstances.  He is vaccinated up to date and good with other dogs of all sizes but does not like cats!!  He is currently being fostered by a friend of his original owner and has been living happily alongside their resident small dogs and has behaved really well around visiting children.  He loves going for his walks but is a real couch potato when at home and loves a good snooze.  He is house trained and can be left alone for a reasonable amount of time.  Initial enquiries should be made by email to chair@ryedaledogrescue.org.uk or by phone on 07843 841778.  Any rehoming would be subject to a homecheck by RDR.

Rodney & Sidney are a pair of very bonded brothers who are looking for a home together.  They were originally bought as Cocker Spaniel x Labradors, DNA tests indicate that they are 51% labrador, 15% cocker spaniel and 34% poodle!

They were born in October 2024 and are now fully vaccinated and castrated.  Although they look very similar their characters are quite different.  Rodney is very outgoing and definitely a bolder character, while Sidney is a bit more reserved and more of a ‘thinker’.  Their basic training is coming along, and they are learning to walk well on their harnesses.  They do get excited in new situations and with new dogs, but that’s just inexperience and they are learning all the time. 

Their ideal home would be an active one with people prepared to continue their training and socialisation.  They could live with older ‘dog savvy’ children, and would love a home with lots of outside space where they could run around and play.

• Two giant breeds: Cane Corso x Neapolitan Mastiff
• Looking for a home together

This larger-than-life pair are believed to be mother and son or certainly closely related as they are so bonded to each other and their breed DNA tests would suggest this.  Because of their bond we are looking to home them together.  They were originally picked up as strays in a local town and remained unclaimed following the statutory claiming period.  Marge is around 5 years old and has had her ears cropped and tail docked while Bart who’s around a year old hasn’t.  The main breeds in their makeup are Cane Corso and Neapolitan Mastiff with small amounts of other mastiff breeds in there to.  Marge is now fully vaccinated and spayed but has been bred from excessively prior to coming to us.  She walks well on the lead and knows some basic commands.  Bart due to his age has not been castrated as yet but this would need to be done by Ryedale Vets in around 12-18 months time.  He also suffers from an eye condition known as Entropion which will require surgery when he’s a little older but is being monitored by the vets (cost covered by RDR).  He is still very much a pup and so his on lead walking and learning basic commands are a work in progress!! They are both around 55kg at present, but Bart still has growing to do so could be around 65-70kg when fully grown.  We are looking for a home with the time, patience and most importantly the space for 2 giant breed dogs and the experience of owning similar breeds before.  They love to be out and about running and playing off lead so a large secure outdoor space is a must for this lovely pair.

• 6 year old Patterdale Terrier
• Best living as an only dog in a home.

Beryl is a 6 year old Patterdale Terrier who came into RDR from a council stray pound when she was only a puppy.  She had sustained quite severe injuries in her former life as a hunt terrier and it took time for her to recover from these.  On veterinary examination she was found to have a serious heart problem and underwent specialist open heart surgery to repair a whole in her heart (PDA) when she was just over a year old.  She recovered very well from this and was given a clean bill of health afterwards.  However she does suffer from a rare skin condition where she lacks collagen so her skin appears super stretchy.  This can cause occasional issues but is managed well either with bandaging or surgery and any veterinary needs would be covered by RDR at Ryedale Vets who have known Beryl throughout her time with RDR.  She is the best companion inside but don’t let that innocent face fool you as she’s a typical terrier when out and about and VERY interested in anything with fur or feathers!!  She is fully vaccinated and neutered and good around other dogs although due to her health issues would probably be best living as an only dog in a home.
