About Ryedale Dog Rescue

Ryedale Dog Rescue was formed in 2005 and became a registered charity in 2007.  Originally set up to rehome abandoned and unwanted dogs in the Ryedale Area, it soon became obvious that there were many dogs in the East Riding of Yorkshire, that needed our help. Our policy is that we rescue and rehome dogs within a thirty mile radius of Malton, North Yorkshire. Since the charity was formed we have rescued 1000 dogs from unnecessary destruction and helped them find their forever home!

We are not a charity that just takes in nice fluffy, easy to home dogs. We judge every dog on temperament and character and work hard to match each dog to the right home. Before any dog is rehomed we carry out home checks with potential new owners, and each dog is neutered, either before leaving us or within six months of being rehomed. We have a non-destruction policy, so will never put a healthy dog down.

Ryedale Dog Rescue is run entirely by volunteers, who take no personal expenses from the charity. We raise funds in many different ways, including fun dog shows, pop-up shops, auctions, coffee mornings and a calendar featuring our amazing rehomed dogs.

We rehome an average of 48 dogs a year, and while they are with us the dogs receive a high standard of care.
